THE JIMMIE RODGERS PAGEANT 2010

The Jimmie Rodgers Pageant, was held on April 10, 2010 at the Quality Inn of Meridian. WTOK-TV was the Corporate Sponsor.

Winners of the competition will represent The Jimmie Rodgers Foundation at special events through the year. The purpose of the pageant is to help youth from the area  know more about Jimmie Rodgers and have them serve as ambassadors to the community.

THE JIMMIE RODGERS FOUNDATION IS CLAIMING SUCCESS FOR APRIL EVENTS!

A winning combination for Thursday, April 1st, 2010!  Bluegrass Legend Doyle Lawson, Grammy nominee Barry Scott, the historic Temple Theatre and an audience who loves  Bluegrass Gospel partnered with  the musical production  expertise of The Jimmie Rodgers Foundation  and you have an event that brings success to Meridian, Mississippi and a night of great music !   Thursday night was not April’s Fool for attendees at the Jimmie Rodgers Concert! The enthusiastic crowd left begging ”Bring them back soon”! Hundreds of music lovers, many from out of town,  gathered to hear Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and Barry Scott and Second Wind.

The 27th Annual Jimmie Rodgers Gospel and Country Music Talent   Competition held on Saturday, April 3 in the Temple Theatre Ballroom in conjunction with The Three Foot Arts Festival  was chalked up as a giant success with an overflow crowd and 65 contestants! Judges had to bring back several finalists in order to choose the winners. Hundreds braved the rain on Saturday morning and stayed all day to listen to their favorite contestant and pick their winners!  In keeping with the tradition of  keen competition the contestants were from several Southern states and brought the house down with their outstanding performances.
